When media attacks.
After bemoaning the fact that Gov. Palin hadn't been grilled interviewed by the media elite, not to mention the full-on tizzy fit they had over her "lack of vetting" [read: by the media], Gov Palin sat down with Charlie Gibson. Unlike the treatment Sen. Obama has received by his cohorts, Mr. Gibson's interview was brimming over with pomposity and gotcha trapdoors. Three bits stood out for me:
Georgia and NATO, as well as the reactions of the leftists - Yes, if a member-nation is attacked, you defend them. That's the bloody point of such an alliance. But... but... that means we'd be at war with Russia! Does it? The word "deterrence" never has been a part of the leftist lexicon, so it's understandable that they wouldn't get that had Georgia been a member of NATO Russia might very well have not invaded in the first place. Nevermind that Obama and Biden are supporters of Georgia being accepted into NATO.
Israel - Israel is a sovereign nation and has every right to do what it has to to defend itself. We in the US are lucky, spoiled if you will, in that we are surrounded by Canada and Mexico. And while there are tensions, especially with Mexico using the US for a dumping ground for its people, neither nation wants to wipe us off the face of the map. Not so with Israel. They don't have the luxury of being milktoast like we do. The folks over in that part of the world are playing for keepsies boys and girls.
The Bush Doctrine - Charles Krauthammer does an outstanding job of setting the sanctimonious left and Charlie Gibson, but I repeat myself, straight on the Bush Doctrine. A term he himself coined. Gov. Palin's "In what respect, Charlie?" response was a display of ignorance. But not on the part of Gov. Palin. It was, is, a display of ignorance on the part of Charlie Gibson, the NY Times, and the rest of the leftists the world over.
