"The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin. When all is orderly, he does not forget that disorder may come. Thus his person is not endangered, and his States and all their clans are preserved." -- Confucius

Simpson convicted of robbing memorabilia dealers

LAS VEGAS - Thirteen years to the day after being acquitted of killing his wife and her friend in Los Angeles, O.J. Simpson was found guilty of robbing two sports-memorabilia dealers at gunpoint in a Las Vegas hotel room.

The 61-year-old former football star was convicted of all 12 counts late Friday after jurors deliberated for more than 13 hours. He released a heavy sigh as the charges were read and was immediately taken into custody.

Simpson, who went from American sports idol to celebrity-in-exile after his murder acquittal, could spend the rest of his life in prison.

Good.

I still believe he turned his ex-wife into a Pez dispenser. I still believe, given the craptastic job the LAPD and the AG's office did during that whole mess, that he couldn't have been found guilty. I still believe he's a total sociopath. And I still believe that many blacks in this country are willing to side with the wrong people for the wrong reasons. OJ was one of those people. (As was Crystal Magnum. As is Sen. Obama.) I remember the reaction to OJ's 1995 verdict. I wonder what the fallout will be after this one.

Final: Palin-Biden the most-watched vp debate ever

Thursday's highly anticipated face-off between Alaska governor Sarah Palin and Delaware senator Joe Biden was the most-watched vp debate of all time.

Last night's event was seen by more than 70 million viewers.

The breakdown:

ABC: 13,130,000
NBC: 12,820,000
CBS: 11,100,000
FOXNews: 11,098,000
CNN: 10,685,000
FOX: 4,500,000
MSNBC: 4,412,000

A few things jumped out at me. First off, MSNBC... Ha! The tingley-legged hacks are, once again, pulling up the rear. Secondly, while ABC is leading the pack, the "Big 3" haven't got anything to brag about in their "network vs. cable" snobbery. I wonder if they realize their time is slipping passed them? Thirdly, and most importantly, FOXNews was essentially carrying the debate on both the FNC as well as Fox. I switched over to Fox myself as FNC is still, strangely given many of its anchors and reporters aren't exactly what one would describe as "hard on the eyes", not being broadcast in HD. At least, in my neck of the woods. Which means it's not exactly a stretch to have the much vilified FOXNews on the top of the heap with 15,598,000 viewers. Or a cool 2.47 million more viewers than ABC.

Just sayin'.

First U.S. CO2 Auction Brings in $38.5 Million

This is exactly the same scam with a different sin to seek absolution for. Pay the people who invented the sin you've committed to absolve you of that sin. Nothing changes, the same amounts of nastiness, that may or may not be actually doing anything, *cough* weather cycles *cough* solar activity *cough* only now, there's a market created to trade in "get out of green guilt jail free" cards.

Suckers.

Forget O-TV...

And his Direct TV channel looping Obama ads...

Team McCain/Palin... heck, everyone who is not completely intellectually dishonest, needs to play this on a continuous loop. Might be a good idea to stick Fannie/Freddie contribution on the mugs of Senators Dodd and Obama in addition to the hacks in this ad. Folks need to know that Sen. Obama raked in contributions second only to Sen. Dodd. Granted, Sen. Dodd took about twenty years to beat out the very junior Senator from Ill-noise who managed to come in number two in only four or so years.

Debate night.

Why in the name of all that's good and tasty in Odin's beard can't the McCain/Palin team call these social engineering dipsticks out for the current crisis they, in no small part, caused? Was there "Wall Street Greed" involved? Sure. No doubt. Was that the only contributing factor? Hell no. We're suffering the unintended consequences of the "fairness" the leftists have wrought, and wish to propagate, and it needs to be pointed out. Big time. That said, I think Gov. Palin did fairly well. Loved the bit about Biden saying that "we don't call it redistribution". No fecal matter Victorian-era detective. If you did it would be impossible, no matter how much the media does its level best to sell things, for people to not say, "Hey, that sounds like Marxism." Which, of course, it obviously is.

Ifill's book was no secret

Michelle Malkin and World Net Daily have made a lot of noise today about the fact the Gwen Ifill, the moderator of Thursday's VP debate, has a new book coming on Inauguration day about Barack Obama and the politics of race -- it's now leading on the front of Drudge.

I'm sorry, how exactly is it news that Gwen Ifill (and 95% of the media) are leftists? Claiming that you're stunned that Ifill's in the tank for Obama is like claiming you're stunned that water is, in fact, wet. Sounds more like a bit of pre-debate positioning. Sort of how Team Obama spent the weeks leading up to the first Presidential debate lowering expectations. If things go Joe "the One-Man Gaffe Machine" Biden's way, then it can be spun that Ifill's in the tank for the Obama/Biden ticket.

Fannie, Freddie and those pesky facts...

Take note of who are saying there are problems with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and who are saying everything is just fine. Now remember that when the MSM and the DNC (but I repeat myself) are busy pointing fingers now that the fecal matter has hit the rotary cooling device.

Hollow Gesture or Just Pathetic?

Family Told Obama NOT To Wear Soldier Son's Bracelet... Where is Media?

NewsBusters - Barack Obama played the "me too" game during the Friday debates on September 26 after Senator John McCain mentioned that he was wearing a bracelet with the name of Cpl. Matthew Stanley, a resident of New Hampshire and a soldier that lost his life in Iraq in 2006. Obama said that he too had a bracelet. After fumbling and straining to remember the name, he revealed that his had the name of Sergeant Ryan David Jopek of Merrill, Wisconsin.

Shockingly, however, Madison resident Brian Jopek, the father of Ryan Jopek, the young soldier who tragically lost his life to a roadside bomb in 2006, recently said on a Wisconsin Public Radio show that his family had asked Barack Obama to stop wearing the bracelet with his son's name on it. Yet Obama continues to do so despite the wishes of the family.

Sadly, I'm not really surprised by this. After all, as I said before, his uh... bracelet is an affectation. Now, it is possible that Sgt. Jopek's mother wants Sen. Obama to wear her fallen son's bracelet. We're just hearing this from Sgt. Jopek's father who is no longer married to his mother. If not, Sen. Obama is being the typical politician everyone, save for his followers, know him to be. In either case, not remembering her son's name should be setting off alarm bells for Jopek's mother.
